Pedagogy &
Teacher Training
As an educator, I have over twelve years of experience in the classroom. I have also served on the Pedagogy Team for UCI's Composition Program, and I have developed and/or lead volunteer trainings, mentor programs, staff meetings, and orientation sessions that communicated the goals and missions of the institution while also preparing volunteers, graduate students, and teachers for their work in a variety of settings. I know what works to engage learners of all ages, and I know how to help others identify their strengths so that they can better serve your students, mentees, clients, employees, and others.
Creative & Professional Writing
Need a one-time workshop? A limited series of weekly writing sessions? A semester-long writing class? Do you need skills-based writing curricula tailored to a specific discipline, or are you looking for a series that will cover a wide range of genres, from SciFi to Poetry to Travel Writing? Do you need something designed to optimize in person or online modalities--or both?
I design curriculum across age groups, genres, and formats--no matter what your vision is for the workshop, class, or session you're planning, I can help! I am an actively publishing poet and essayist who has taught writing in just about every creative and academic writing genre you can imagine, and I've designed for Asychronous/Remote, Online, Hybrid, and In-Person formats. When I design curriculum for you, I bring this creativity, adaptability, and experience to bear on every project.
K-12, College, & Adult Learners
Just as every learner is unique, every age has its opportunities. From my work with WriteGirl Global and PEN America to my work with two-year and four-year universities, I have served learners in a variety of settings--some informal, some formal, some somewhere in between--and across ages, from rising 6th graders to those approaching retirement. No matter what age I'm working with, I know how to challenge learners while making the experience productive and rewarding (and dare I say, fun). Students, employees, clients, mentees, and others will walk away surprised by their own abilities and possessing new skills that they can rely upon for years to come.
